As Kitchener once famously said: "We need you!"

Whilst we are not at war, running a substantial group such as the 1st Claygate scout group, requires a lot of time and effort.

Adult volunteers are at the heart of Scouting, and we hope that you will get every bit as much out of it as you put in.

Scouting is not only about young people, but also about the development of adults within the Movement.

T he qualifications required to be a Scouter are straightforward; namely an acceptance of the aims and methods of the Scout Association and a willingness to accept the Scout Promise.

A simple training Programme exists to augment the knowledge and experience gained whilst working with all sections. Every month the Scouters of all sections meet together to plan activities and discuss the progress of the boys in their charge.

All leaders are over 18 and are also known as ‘Scouters’. In this and every Scout Group all leaders are unpaid and offer their service for no reward other than the satisfaction of knowing that it is their help which makes Scouting possible and enjoyable for the boys and girls.

T he management of the Group is the responsibility of the Group Trustee Committee and its membership is made up of parents and supporters appointed at our Annual General Meeting, and the Senior Scouters. Sub-Committees exist covering the major areas of responsibility – Finance, Communications, and Property.
